23-year-old Man arrested in connection with shootout on Victory Ave
A 23-year-old man was arrested in connection with an incident on March 3 in which gunmen exchanged gunfire with police after two businesses were robbed.
The 23-year-old man of George Town was arrested on March 9 and subsequently charged with possession of a prohibited weapon, possession of an unlicensed firearm, unlawful discharge of a firearm, and other related offenses.
The man is expected to appear in court on March 12.
On March 3, police received reports of two armed robberies.
One of the incidents, happened just before 11pm, two armed men robbed a mini mart in Industrial Park.
In the second incident, around 11:15pm, two men also robbed the Czech Inn Restaurant in Bodden Town.
Police later intercepted the vehicle believed to be involved in the incidents on Victory Avenue and the occupants in the vehicle opened fire on the police and the police returned the fire.
