65-year-old US tourist dies near Spotts Beach

In a release  issued moments ago, police said that a US visitor was pronounced dead upon arrival at the Cayman Islands Hospital just after 1:30 pm on Monday.

Early reports from the Royal Cayman Islands Police Service (RCIPS) are that police and other emergency personnel were dispatched to a possible drowning in the area of Spotts Beach, George Town.

Police, paramedics and other members of the public made attempts at reviving and resuscitate the 65-year-old man, who was found unresponsive out in the water.

Their efforts proved futile.

The man was taken to the Cayman Islands Hospital where he was pronounced dead by the on duty A&E doctor at 1:31PM.

This is the second water-related death involving a US tourist in the Cayman Islands since the start of the year.
