‘Bourdain was my best friend’- Eric Ripert mourns late chef
In the hours after US media giant, CNN, confirmed the passing of chef Anthony Bourdain, his best friend Eric Ripert took to social media to share a heartfelt message.
In an Instagram post Ripert wrote:
“Anthony was my best friend. He was an exceptional human being, so inspiring and generous. One of the great storytellers of our time who connected with so many around the world on a level rarely seen.”
The longtime friend and business partner of Bourdain further added, “He brought us all on some incredible journeys. I pray he is at peace from the bottom of my heart. My love and prayers are also with his family, friends, loved ones and everyone that knew him”.
Ripert reportedly found Bourdain unresponsive in his hotel room in France on Friday.
Bourdain and Ripert were filming an upcoming episode of Bourdain’s CNN series Parts Unknown in France.
Ripert and Bourdain were last in the Cayman Islands earlier this year, where the duo hosted the annual event, Cayman Cookout.
Bourdain was booked to return to the Cayman Islands in 2019 for the event which features an all-star celebrity chef line-up.
