BREAKING: All 207 contacts of COVID-positive child are COVID-negative

All 207 of the contacts of a year 2 Red Bay Primary school student who tested as weakly positive for COVID-19 have come back negative for the virus. This included 54 year 2 students and 6 teachers.

Both parents and a sibling have returned a negative result as was previously reported. The father of the child and the child have mild symptoms which may be the common cold. The child subsequently tested negative in confirmatory tests.

There are many questions in the air; many questions that will never be fully answered so government has decided to err on the side of caution.

Dr Lee has indicated that given that the child had a low viral load, it is unlikely that they are infectious.

Year 2 students and their families will be isolated at home for a period of 14 days, until October 16 and will be tested again. The reason for this date is that the child had not returned to school from October 2. Luckily, there is a school break coming up in a few days.

Contact tracing is continuing.

Because the child has respiratory symptoms, the case will be reported as a positive in the Cayman Islands.
