Cayman: 2 positive tests; 195 COVID-19 cases total
There are 2 more positive COVID-19 results in the Cayman Islands today, out of a total 987 tests that were run, with the total positives coming to 195. Both were community-acquired and picked up in the screening programme. They are both asymptomatic. The total number of tests that have now been run is 20,323.
The status of positive cases is as follows:
2 have some symptoms.
49 are asymptomatic.
1 individual is in the hospital and is stable
143 have recovered fully.
Today there is a change in discharge criteria. Those who are asymptomatic will need to be tested twice after 10 days of isolation to be discharged. For those who are symptomatic, the criteria will be to test 10 days after symptom onset plus another test after three more days with no symptoms; e.g., fever or respiratory symptoms to be discharged.
With regards to the new immunoglobulin tests that are being conducted, individuals have already had their blood drawn at the HSA and the results will be reported over the upcoming days. Health City is also ready to start running the antibody tests. There is a general belief that a previous infection results in immunity but there is not enough knowledge to make conclusive determinations.
