Cayman: Another traveller tests positive for COVID-19
The Chief Medical Officer, Dr John Lee, reports 293 COVID-19 tests have been carried out since this was last reported on Friday, September 25. One test was positive. This brings the total positive tests in Cayman since the beginning of the pandemic to 211.
The individual is a returning traveller who tested positive as part of routine screening on completion of the mandatory quarantine period and is asymptomatic. They will remain in isolation until they have completed the necessary additional period of isolation.
This is the fourth traveller for the month who has tested positive for COVID-19. A fifth positive case revealed traces of the dormant virus from someone from within the community who had previously been infected.
There are now two active cases of the virus and both are in quarantine.
The total number of people in isolation, either at a government facility or in their homes as required by the Medical Officer of Health, will be provided shortly.
There have been 39,177 tests conducted in the Cayman Islands.
