With a total of 12,003 tests completed, the Cayman Islands now leads the region with the number of coronavirus tests done.

And with 151 positive cases overall, Premier Alden McLaughlin has described the results as encouraging - saying the Government is on track for the reopening of the economy.

He revealed at the live COVID-19 update yesterday (TUES) that if this trend continues, more segments will reopen, perhaps even sooner than originally decided.

However, the Premier stressed that Cayman Islands’ borders will remain closed until August 31 for general interaction from the outside world.

International mail was being brought in by contracted airline services and therefore not coming in on a regular basis. The Postal Service is working to find a solution.
