Cayman: New restrictions on public gatherings
New stipulations have been added to the regulations around public gathering, which apply to gyms, bars, salons and public swimming pools. This was communicated at the government's press briefing today.
Gyms, bars, salons and public swimming pools will be closed and restaurants will be restricted to delivery alone as of Sunday March 22, 11.59PM.
This will be added to the COVID regulations. If there is a breach, this will qualify as a breach of the law.
Cayman is expecting 147 students back within the next few days. Children are urged not to treat this break from school as a spring break or a time to congregate in groups.
There is a possibility that public transport might need to be shut down.
There has been to date no need for a curfew as there is no sign of community transmission. "If we change peoples' behaviour we will slow transmission," said the Premier.
