Cayman: Will August be our first full month with no active COVID-19?
Created : 3 August 2020
This afternoon, Chief Medical Officer Dr John Lee has reported 279 COVID-19 tests that were carried out since Thursday. All were negative.
Cayman's total number of COVID-19 cases since March remains at 203. None of them are active.
Based on positive feedback among Cayman's leadership and within the medical community, this might just be the first entire month since March that Cayman does not have any active cases of COVID-19. This is of course contingent on Caymanian's following protocols as mandated by government, including mask-wearing and social distancing.
There are also several flights coming in from the UK, Miami and Jamaica this month, and there is no means of controlling what the health status will be of everyone aboard those flights.
Since March 12, when the Cayman Islands recorded its first case of COVID-19, Cayman has recorded positive results every month. August is the first month that we are entering with no active COVID-19 cases.
30,401 tests have been carried out to-date.
