Court gives green light for 3rd election candidate

Independent candidate in George Town South, Alric Lindsay, has been given the green light to continue his candidacy for the May 24 General Elections.

Lindsay candidacy hit a speed bump when his eligibility was challenged amid claims he was out of the country for more than 400 days in the seven years before his nomination which would make him ineligible.

However, Justice Anthony Smellie of the Grand Court on Thursday made it known that Lindsay is eligible to contest in the upcoming elections.

While moving forward with his candidacy, Loop Cayman understand that Lindsay legal fees amounted to approximately $CI 30,000

The pool of candidates fell from 63-61 after two candidates were deemed ineligible by the Chief Justice.
