DVDL opening offices next week amid high levels of online efficiency
The Department of Vehicle and Driver’s Licensing (DVDL) has been managing to keep its operations moving smoothly despite the temporary closure of its office locations, which will be opened in a week.
During the months of office closure due to COVID-19, staff processed a total of 10,181 vehicle licence renewals.
Of this number, 7,873 vehicles or about 132 vehicles/per day were renewed online. This is proof that the online system is working.
DVDL will be refining the online system to make it even more efficient and easy to use, with the hope that customers will not have the need to return to the offices in numbers previously seen.
There were 2,288 vehicles renewed over the counter for essential personnel and the elderly.
The total number of drivers’ licences renewed during the period was 1,686.
All office locations will re-open with normal hours of operation, starting on Monday, July 13.
Driving tests are scheduled to commence on July 20.
The opening hours for the Crewe Road location are Monday to Friday, 8.30 am to 4.00 pm; while Breakers and West Bay locations are Tuesday to Friday, 10.00 am to 6.00 pm.
To ensure the health and safety of employees and customers and to adhere to required social distancing guidelines, access to the customer lobby area will be permitted in a controlled manner.
Members of the public can also contact DVDL at 945-8344 or via email@example.com for information and queries.
The DVDL further advises that the drop box system which was available to customers during the shelter in place regulations has been discontinued.
