Facebook, Whatsapp, Instagram restored after temporary outage

Social media users attempting to use Facebook, Whatsapp or Instagram reported issues logging on and accessing the apps and browsers on Sunday morning.

According to downdetector.com, the issue began around 6:30 am EDT.

The cause of the outage was not known up to 9:00 am Sunday, however, connectivity for all three platforms was reportedly restored around 9:00 am (local time) Sunday.

Persons in parts of the US, Europe, UK, Malaysia, Indonesia, as well as parts of the Caribbean reportedly experienced outages.

Many turned to Twitter, which is still active, to comment on the outages.

Facebook experienced a similar global outage on March 13, 2019, which they said was due to a server change.

Up to 9:00 am Sunday, the company had not yet issued a statement on this subsequent outage.

Facebook acquired Instagram in 2012 and WhatsApp in 2014.
