Feed our Future working to curb food insecurity due to school closures

With the closure of local schools due to COVID-19, charity Feed our future is working within the community to prevent food insecurity among children who may be without nutritious meals.

In collaboration with the Cayman Islands Government Department of Education Services and its community partners, focused on advocating for and supporting at-risk children in the community, the Feed our Future plan of action is as follows:

At the Government Primary school level, Feed our Future will continue to work through school canteens to prepare hot meals for delivery through the help of their dedicated bus services provider. This will begin in the week of March 23.

At the Government Secondary school level, Feed our Future will be working with school counsellors to distribute supermarket food vouchers in staged intervals across the period of the school closure to families in order to ensure access to food.

This support will complement the short-term financial aid that the Needs Assessment Unit has already confirmed for eligible Caymanian families.

Feed Our Future acknowledges and appreciates the overwhelming offers of support from its generous supporters and confirms that it will accept and share non-perishable food items, supermarket vouchers and donations in support of supermarket food voucher purchase.
