Four arrested on gambling and ganja suspicions after bar search

Four people were arrested after police carried out a search at a bar on Shedden Road and the surrounding area based on a tip-off that there has been illegal gambling and drug activities at the location.

Just after 1:25pm on Friday (May 31), officers from the RCIPS and the CBC arrived at the location, where a large number of persons were present.

A significant amount of those people dispersed on foot, but several persons were searched and spoken to by the officers and four arrests were made as a result of the operation.

Two women aged 58 and 39, both of George Town, were arrested on suspicion of illegal gambling while two men aged 18 and 21 were also arrested on suspicion of possession and consumption of ganja.

Investigations are ongoing.
