GeorgeTown man gets community service after smashing wife’s windscreen

Magistrate Donalds  on Wednesday ordered a George Town man to do 40 hours of community service, after he smashed the windscreen of his estranged wife’s vehicle.

The court heard that  police were called to the man’s residence on July 4, 2016 after receiving a call from the man’s wife.

The wife told the police that she and her estranged husband had been arguing when he picked up a plastic garden chair and smashed it on the rear windshield of her vehicle.

 The glass was shattered.

The man pled guilty to the charge of damage to property, at an earlier hearing.

He has since been attending a men’s non-violence course and has also paid for the damage to the vehicle.

The husband expressed his remorse telling the court that he had over reacted during the argument and he is not usually an angry person.

Magistrate Donalds noted that the 40 hours community service was to be completed over the next 12 months.
