Health minister, HSA express condolences at death of visiting doctor
Minister of Health, Dwayne Seymour, and the Health Services Authority have expressed condolences to the family, friends and colleagues of Dr Vary Anetta Jones-Leslie, who succumbed to injuries she sustained after being hit by a motor vehicle.
Dr Vary Anetta Jones-Leslie, who worked at the Spanish Town Hospital in Jamaica ,as well as, acted as a locum doctor in the Women’s Health Clinic in the Cayman Islands for a number of years, has described as a gifted medical practitioner.
Seymour in statement on Tuesday, extend heartfelt condolences to Dr. Jones-Leslie’s family and friends, and especially the doctor’s husband, who Seymour noted is currently on-island.
“While the death of anyone as the result of an accident is always difficult to bear, these particular circumstances are extremely hard for everyone in the health sector, “ said Seymour on Tuesday.
Seymour also thanked the government agencies and emergency staff who helped in the aftermath of the accident
Health Services Authority Chief Executive Officer, Lizzette Yearwood also expressed condolences describing the Jones-Leslie’s death as a great loss to the medical fraternity and community.
In a statement on Tuesday, the HSA said Dr. Jones-Leslie will be remembered by her colleagues as a respected and compassionate clinician who dedicated her life to serving others and was passionate about her job beyond just providing medical care
“Colleagues remember her as a good clinician who was forward thinking and lived life to the fullest.,” the HSA statement said
