Thanks to Cayman-based photographer, Helen Jones for this amazing photo
“This is the moon tonight in our back yard at curfew,” said Cayman-based photographer, Helen Jones, who provided Loop Cayman with this beautiful image.
Those who have been stargazing while on coronavirus night time curfew would have noticed that last night’s moon was bigger and brighter than usual. The beauty of this image is not a camera trick. Last night at 9.35 pm, Cayman experienced a Super Moon and Pink Moon.
When the Full Moon or New Moon occurs during the Moon's closest approach to Earth, within 90 percent of perigee, it is called a Super Moon. April 2020's Pink Moon, named after phlox, the pink flowers that bloom in spring, is also a Super Moon.
Cayman was lucky to have no clouds or inclement weather to obscure its view.
Just another small blessing during a difficult time on this beautiful rock we call home.
