Man to appear in court on string of charges including assaulting cops

 A 21-year-old from George Town is to appear in court on Monday on string of charges stemming from two separate but related incidents dating back to October 2018.

The man has been formally charged with 12 offenses: 

  • Two counts of Causing Fear or Provocation of Violence, in relation to incidents on 5 and 13 October, 2018;
  • Dangerous Driving, Driving Without Being Qualified, Driving Without Insurance, and other traffic offenses, in relation to an incident on 13 October, where he attempted to evade police in an unlicensed and unregistered vehicle;
  • Arson, in relation to an incident on 13 October where the above-mentioned vehicle was set on fire;
  • And Resisting an Arrest, Escaping Lawful Custody, and Assaulting Police, in relation to an incident on 2 February, where he fled from officers attempting to arrest him, and assaulted an officer in the process.
