Man arrested in gun attack that killed Jamaican man on Eastern Avenue

In a release moments ago, the Royal Cayman Islands Police Service (RCIPS) said that a man was taken into custody in connection with a shooting on Eastern Avenue that left a Jamaican man dead.

The 27-year-old George Town man was arrested on suspicion of murder and is currently in police custody.

On Saturday January 20, A Jamaican national was gunned down on Eastern Avenue in the vicinity of Shedden Road.

While police have not released the man’s identity, they did confirm that the man was 28-years-old.

According to a source, who was at the scene of the incident, the man received several shots to the head.

The Jamaican community in Cayman has already started to react to news of the man’s passing on social media platforms, with tributes being posted on the man’s Facebook page.

Less than a week ago, on January 15, another shooting incident occurred on Eastern Avenue in the vicinity of Avon Way; the victim in that incident remains in hospital.
