Man arrested at Owen Roberts Airport on suspicion of attempted murder

A 34-year-old George Town man was arrested at the Owen Roberts International Airport yesterday on suspicion of attempted murder and suspicion of possession of an unlicensed firearm as he was preparing to leave the island.

Just before 5 pm yesterday, police arrested the man in relation to a shooting on Shedden Road on February 21.

The man is currently being held in custody pending further investigation.

Just after 8.30 pm on February 21, police and other emergency services were dispatched after it was reported that shots were fired at a location, leaving one man injured.


The victim was rushed to hospital suffering from gunshot wounds, and was immediately treated. He was believed to be critical but stable condition.

The matter is being investigated by Criminal Investigations Department and detectives are encouraging anyone with information about the incident to come forward.
