Man in his twenties charged for multiple unlicensed firearms

A man who was previously arrested after police found unlicensed firearms in a vehicle that he was driving, has now been charged.

A 26-year-old-man from George Town was charged with Possession of an Unlicensed Firearm (sawn-off shotgun) and Possession of an Unlicensed Firearm (ammunition) yesterday August 11, following his arrest on Sunday August 9 in the Fountain Road area of West Bay.

The offender was travelling in a vehicle in the Fountain Road area of West Bay at about 7.30 amwhen his vehicle collided with a tree. The offender ran from the scene and was later traced and arrested by police. 

In searching the vehicle driven by the offender,  police recovered a sawn off shotgun, loaded with one cartridge. He was later charged and appeared in court on August 11, where he was bailed to return on August 18, 2020.
