Memorial held for Gourzong at Spotts Dock
Family, friends and members of his old football team wore red and released lanterns at memorial held on June 29 for a young man described as a promising Caymanian, Michael Gourzong.
Gourzong, who was well known for his skills on the football field , as a goalkeeper, died tragically in June 2016 while swimming with friends near Spotts Beach.
'Happy Times' was the name given to the special memorial held for the young Caymanian at Spotts Dock, in which friends shared memories and kind words about the young man.
Others offered support to those who became tearful or overwhelmed with grief, as they reflected on the good times they had with Gourzong.
Gourzong’s mom who was in attendance at the event was feted with roses as well as expressed thanks to everyone who took the time to come and support her and her family.
Gourzong was a footballer for the Bodden Town Sports Club, Savannah United Church football club and played flag football for the Maples Team.
