North Side man arrested after crash and brawl
A man was seriously injured after a brawl with another man at a bar off North Sound Road.
Just before 1:45am today, police and other emergency services were dispatched after a report that two men had been engaged in a dispute at Vic’s Bar, which led to one of the men being seriously injured.
On the arrival of the police, both parties involved had left the location. The injured man attended the hospital for treatment for life-threatening injuries.
He remains in hospital in critical condition.
Less than an hour after the incident on North Sound Road, at about 2:34am police and other emergency services were dispatched to a church located on Frank Sound Road, where it appeared that the driver of a red Kia Picante had lost control and collided with columns in front of the church.
The vehicle ended up on top of the column.
The driver suffered injuries and First Aid was administered by members of the public prior to the arrival of emergency personnel. He was transported to the hospital where he was treated for serious but non-life-threatening-injuries.
Officers had reasonable cause to believe that the man who was involved in the collision on Frank Sound, a 24-year-old from North Side, was involved in the stabbing incident at the bar on North Sound Road and he was arrested on suspicion of wounding with intent.
He was also warned for intended prosecution for several traffic offenses including DUI and driving whilst disqualified.
