Policeman charged with animal cruelty over pet dog

A police officer has been charged with animal cruelty, a police statement says.

The 26-year-old, from George Town, is accused of delaying veterinary treatment to his pet dog after it was struck by a car.

The incident took place in December 2017 and the charge resulted from a Department of Agriculture investigation.

The man is currently on bail, the statement said.
