Jamaican canoe with roosters intercepted by JMU near Grand Cayman

Three Jamaican Nationals were taken into custody by the Joint Marine Unit (JMU) on Thursday evening after their canoe arrived in Grand Cayman.

JMU officers on patrol off the eastern side of the Grand Cayman came upon the canoe and following a brief pursuit intercepted the vessel.

According to the JMU several packages were thrown overboard by the men in the canoe.

The three men were taken into custody on suspicion of importation.

Large quantity of packages were recovered from the water according to police, however they did not disclose what were in the packages.

Caged roosters were also found on board and were confiscated.
