Two arrested for assaulting RCIPS superintendent

Two Bodden Town men were arrested in connection with an assault on a senior superintendent.The incident occurred shortly before 9:30 pm on Saturday at the Island Heritage round-a-bout, Esterley Tibbetts Highway.

The assailants reported to be ages 25 and 23-years-old, were arrested at the scene on suspicion of assault causing grievous bodily harm and obstructing police in the lawful execution of their duties. They are still in police custody with regards to the matter.

The RCIPS in a release described the officer's injuries to the head and body as significant. They also noted that the Superintendent was on duty and in full uniform at the time of the incident. The officer was taken to the George Town Hospital by ambulance where he was admitted. 

The Superintendent was at the scene of a collision involving a single vehicle that occurred at the round-a-bout.
The incident is currently being investigated by the Criminal Investigation Department (CID).
The RCIPS is also appealing to witnesses to contact George Town CID.
