Top holiday deals and shopping events for Christmas bargain hunters

‘Tis the season to start buying Christmas presents and for those on a budget, Loop has you covered! Before you set out at these top stops, make sure you have a list so that you get exactly what you need, and don’t go overboard.

Also, remember to pay cash wherever you can to avoid credit card fees and interest.

Here are the top local events and locations to help keep your spending under control.

Christmas Markets and Shopping Events

November 17 - Vigoro will have its customer appreciation event. Plants, home accessories, ceramics, pottery, Christmas gifts and Christmas decorations will all be sold for 10% off from 12 pm - 3.30 pm.

November 29 - Liquor Tent Sale at Brasserie by the Wicket Bar in Cricket Square from 4 pm.

November 30 - Pink Ladies at Camana Bay from 2 pm - 5 pm where you can experience delicious homemade tea, distinctive handmade crafts, a white elephant sale, a silent auction and special performances.

December 1 - Christmas Market at the Parade of Lights, Camana Bay from 4 pm -9 pm.

December 14 - Visual Arts Society Christmas Craft Market from 10 am to 5 pm at the Paseo where you can find handmade art, jewellery, crafts, ornaments and more for the perfect Christmas gift with a local touch.

December 20 - Christmas Night Market at the Anchor and Den from 6 pm -10 pm.

Black Friday

Wake up early on the morning of Friday November 29 to beat the hoards of Christmas shoppers and bargain hunters. This is truly the biggest sales day of the year. Shops like Kirk Office, Cost-U-Less and Sports Supply Cayman have already started listing all of their black Friday specials on their websites and Facebook pages.

Thrift shops

The Book Loft at the Humane Society, One Dog at a time Thrift Shop, Paws Thrift Shop, Another Chance thrift Shop and The Red Cross Thrift Shop sell a variety of new and gently used items including clothing, Christmas cards, holiday DVD’s, Christmas CD’s, Christmas Books, puzzles and games, gift wrapping, gift bags and stocking stuffers for a small fraction of what you would spend elsewhere.

Discount Stores and other year-round bargain shops

Bargain hunters will find what they are looking for at local discount shops. Some of these include Priced Right, Buy Smart, Atlantic, Cost-U-Less, AL Thompsons, Dollar Mart and the dollar section at Fosters. Book stores are also a good idea because books are duty-free, year round.
