Trough across the Western Caribbean to affect Cayman today & tomorrow

A trough across the Western Caribbean is expected to produce scattered showers and thunder across the Cayman area for the next 24 hours. Radar images show scattered showers in and around the Cayman area which are moving towards the northwest.

The Cayman Islands National Weather Service reports as follows:

Today will continue to be partly cloudy to cloudy with showers and 60 per cent chance of some thunder. Showers may become locally heavy at times leading to possible flooding of low lying areas. Temperatures will rise to the upper 80’s °F. Winds will be east to southeast 5 to 10 knots. Seas will be slight to moderate with wave heights of 2 to 4 feet.

Tonight there will be cloudy skies with a 60 per cent chance of showers and some thunder. Showers may become locally heavy at times leading to possible flooding of low lying areas, especially over the sister islands. Temperatures will fall to the mid 70’s °F. Winds will be east to southeast 5 to 10 knots higher gusts. Seas will be slight with wave heights of 1 to 3 feet.

Temperatures will rise to the upper 80’s °F. Winds will be east to southeast 5 to 10 knots. Seas will be slight with wave heights of 1 to 3 feet.

The outlook through Friday morning is for continued cloudiness with scattered showers as the trough lingers over the Northwestern Caribbean.
