TS Josephine continues on its west-northwest track over the Atlantic

The centre of Tropical Storm (TS) Josephine is located over the Atlantic Ocean about 680 miles (1090 km) east-southeast of the northern Leeward Islands.

This was confirmed by the US National Hurricane Centre (NHC) in Miami in its Friday morning forecast.

At 5 am AST, TS Josephine was moving toward the west-northwest near 17 mph (28 km/h) and this general motion is expected to continue for the next couple of days followed by a turn toward the northwest late this weekend or early next week, according to the NHC.

On the forecast track, the centre of Josephine is expected to pass to the northeast of the Leeward Islands over the weekend.

TS Josephine has maximum sustained winds of near 40 mph (65 km/h) with higher gusts.

Tropical-storm-force winds extend outward up to 80 miles (130 km) from the centre.

Some strengthening is expected to occur during the next day.
