Two men in court charged with ganja offences after canoe incident

Two men who were arrested in relation to a beached white canoe onshore at Prospect Point have been formally charged with Importation of Ganja and Possession of Ganja with Intent to Supply.
The men, age 25 of Jamaica, and 39 of Bodden Town, are due to appear in court today.
The 25-year-old has also been charged with Illegal Landing.
Police have revealed that the recovered parcels weighed over 550lbs.
Just after midnight on June 28, officers on patrol noted suspicious activity onshore in Prospect Point. Two men were observed in the vicinity of a beached white canoe with several bags scattered onshore.
The men were detained and a search of the area was conducted, during which several parcels containing what appeared to be ganja were found.
Other officers responding to the area noted a suspicious vehicle nearby and stopped the driver. Further enquiries led to all three men being arrested on suspicion of importation of ganja.
