Barbados is doing more than 500 PCR tests for COVID-19 in a day
Barbados has now conducted a whopping 575 PCR tests for COVID-19 in one day, and all were negative.
This broke the new record of 544 tests done early this week.
There were no new positive cases of COVID-19 recorded in Barbados based on the results of the 575 tests conducted by the Best-dos Santos Public Health Laboratory on Tuesday, October 6. These results for Wednesday, October 7 were delayed due to the high volume. They were disseminated on Thursday, October 8.
This now brings the total of number of tests completed by the lab to 25,968.
Fourteen persons will continue to stay in isolation as there have also been no recoveries.
The island’s tally of confirmed cases recorded since March, remains at 203.
As it pertains to the delay of results, the Ministry of Health and Wellness has a fix. The Ministry has indicated that resources will be redirected to support a faster turnaround.
Amongst the 575 tests performed were those belonging to persons identified through contact tracing linked to the most recent cluster, as well as more students and staff of The Ellerslie School.
