Cayman: Leap in COVID-19 positives over past 4 days; 17 more cases
There are 17 more positive COVID-19 results in the Cayman Islands today, out of a total 1,182 tests that were run.
The total positives come to 111 (with a total of three from Cayman Brac). These numbers represent four days of testing. Some 1,071 tests were from the HSA and 94 were from Doctors hospital.
These positives were all found through the screening programme. Two were from Cayman Brac and two were from the prison. The positive rate is now at 1.44 per cent.
In total, 7,082 people have been tested.
A huge bulk of the healthcare workers, RCIPS, fire, the prison and frontline workers have been tested.
The status of positive cases is as follows:
12 have some symptoms.
43 are asymptomatic.
0 individuals are in the hospital but are no longer being treated for COVID-19 but for other conditions.
55 have recovered fully.
Ten people were seen in the flu clinic over these four days and there were 62 calls to the flu clinic, most of which were administrative calls. The flu clinic will be closed on Thursday.
"The lesson to be taken from the message delivered today is that the virus is still very much among us from across the community," said the Premier.
