Flooding reported on Turks and Caicos as Hurricane Isaias heads North

Localised flooding has been reported in low lying parts of the Turks and Caicos Islands as Hurricane Isaias heads towards Florida and the Northern Bahamas.

Power outages have been reported around the territory as trees and electricity polls have been uprooted due to the strong winds.

The US National Hurricane Centre’s 11am update said tropical storm conditions will continue across portions of the Turks and Caicos today.

Isaias was located about 295 miles (470 km) southeast of Nassau, Bahamas. A Hurricane Warning has been issued for the entire country.

The hurricane moving toward the northwest near 16 mph (26 km/h).

A general north-westward motion with some decrease in forward speed is expected for the day followed by a turn toward the north-northwest.

On the forecast track, the centre of Isaias will continue to move near or over the South-eastern Bahamas today.
