Jamaica now has 59 coronavirus cases after Portland man tests positive

A 43-year-old male from Portland is the latest person in Jamaica to have tested positive for the novel coronavirus (COVID-19), bringing the total number of confirmed cases in the island to 59.

The announcement was made by the Ministry of Health and Wellness in a news release on Monday afternoon.

The mode of COVID-19 transmission in the latest case is under investigation. It brings to seven the number of cases under investigation while 30 are imported cases and 22 are import-related, the ministry said.

So far, 32 males and 27 females have tested positive for the disease. The cases range in age from 12 to 87 years. The average age is 50 years.
