Damage done by Laura outside of the Cayman Islands.
The Deputy District Commissioner of Cayman Barc and Little Cayman has reported that the sister islands have fared well overnight despite the threat of Tropical Storm Laura.
"Just want to state that for these islands we fared extremely well overnight from the threat of Tropical Storm Laura," said Mark Tibbetts. "I also want to take the opportunity to thank her sister islands' emergency personnel for being so readily available."
Tibbetts said there was limited rainfall and "very low winds" from the storm.
The deputy district commissioner also cautioned the public that the islands are not yet out of the woods.
"There is still weather to our south and east from Tropical Storm Laura so we just want to ensure that everyone is reminded that we are still under a tropical storm warning here in the sister islands of Cayman Brac and Little Cayman. We anticipate that we will not get an all-clear until early afternoon, therefore, please do continue to exercise all caution," he added.
