The town hall of the town of Delmas on Wednesday honoured Loop Haiti for its awareness-raising work on Covid-19 in Haiti.

Mayor of the municipality Wilson Jeudy presented the plaque of honour to Loop Haiti Content Manager Raoul Junior Lorfils, at the Municipal Palace of Delmas, on World Youth Day.

"Honour and merit to Loop Haiti for its contribution in raising awareness, the permanent dissemination on the evolution of the coronavirus pandemic in Haiti," reads the plaque given to Lorfils.

The city manager also thanked the Loop Haiti team for its outstanding work informing the public.

Loop Haiti currently runs an entire section dedicated to the coronavirus pandemic.

This section, which has registered more than 321,000 visitors to date, is supplied according to a COVID-19 coverage plan based on three main axes, Lorfils said.

Lorfils said: "We are active through information, awareness and support for the benefit of efforts dedicated to preventing the spread of the disease.

"Through our platforms, we constantly disseminate useful information on the evolution of the virus. We make people aware of the behaviours to adopt to protect themselves and those around them; but also, we actively participate in the promotion of all actions — virtual concert, fundraising, technological innovation, entrepreneurial etc — aiming to fight the virus on the territory."

Lorfils said this work would not be possible without the dedication and seriousness of the entire Haitian team at Loop. He added that his team is also committed to combating false information about the pandemic.

"Our strength is our team, but also the support of our readers who trust us and widely relay our articles, videos or other types of content on the disease," he said.

To date, Haiti has recorded 7,743 cases of coronavirus infection and 187 deaths, since its appearance in the country in March.

On the other hand, a total of 5,124 patients, or 66 per cent of those infected, are cured of the virus according to the latest report from the Ministry of Public Health and Population.
