Dr Thackwray “Dax” Driver and Andrew Satney are the new Chairman and Vice-Chairman of the Network of Caribbean Chambers of Commerce (CARICHAM).

Driver and Satney were elected to the posts during CARICHAM’s first Annual General Meeting (AGM) on June 29, 2020.

They succeed Lizra Fabien, Executive Director of the Dominica Association of Industry & Commerce and Trevor Fearon, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Jamaica Chamber of Commerce.

Driver is the President and CEO of the Trinidad & Tobago Energy Chamber while Satney is the Executive Director of the St Kitts & Nevis Chamber of Commerce. Both men were sworn in at a virtual ceremony.

In a statement, CARICHAM said Driver has committed to add value to the Chambers’ member firms, who are mainly Micro, Small & Medium Enterprises, which are currently battling the coronavirus pandemic and preparing for the 2020 hurricane season.

There are 90,000 businesses in the network, which was launched in Barbados in April 2019.

The Network also re-committed to its objectives and four-pillar work programme, comprising: Disaster Risk Reduction/Mitigation; Trade (Promotion/Facilitation and Transportation); Membership Value and Advocacy; and Knowledge/Best Practices Sharing.
