Skateboarders to raise funds for Meals on Wheels

If you love to skate and want to give back to the community, Meals on Wheels needs you! Skateboards, scooters, bikes, rollerblades, roller skates or unicycles, any wheels will do!!

The Cayman Skateboarders Association is organizing a charity event to benefit Meals on Wheels and is looking for 25 skaters to participate in an awareness-raising and fundraising event on July 25 at 5 pm at the Blackpearl Skatepark in Grand Harbour.

Each skater will be provided with an online link for donations to be made as follows:

  • Each skater must find 25 donors (family, friends, companies or colleagues)
  • Each donor must sponsor $25 or $1/lap with a total contribution of $625 per skater

All funds will go towards supporting Meals on Wheels in its quest to provide over 1,000 hot soups and lunch meals each day to the most vulnerable members of the community: seniors, infirm, disabled and homebound.

"Over the past few weeks we have seen great increases in demand for food support for the people we serve," says Meals on Wheels General Manager, Jennifer West.

"I have elderly family members who benefit from the services of Meals on Wheels," says Michael Myles, Chairman of the Board of the Cayman Skateboarders Association and Founder of Inspire Cayman. "They look forward to this daily. The organization also feeds hundreds of people. As a citizen and community activist, I am honoured to serve anywhere I can."

Those who are interested in participating or contributing can contact 546-8886 or for more information.
