The Smith Barcadere project has been cancelled
The Ministry of Commerce, Planning and Infrastructure announced yesterday that it would not proceed with the proposed Smith Barcadere project.
The Smith Barcadere Committee agreed that the project should not be pursued. According to a press release issued on March 11,
The Ministry commissioned the project on land that was purchased by the government at Smith Barcadere in 2016. The Public Works Department was in charge of project management and consultancy services for the project.
The project was in an early stage of development, with the tender review process completed in February.
No project works have been undertaken on the site and none are planned for the future.
The announcement was made amid public concerns that the land and trees in the area were already being cleared.
